About this event

This coffee chat offers an introduction to mental health occupational therapy (OT) and its role within interdisciplinary mental health care. We’ll explore how OT addresses functional areas such as routines, executive functioning, sensory needs, and daily participation, while highlighting the complementary roles of OT and psychotherapy. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what mental health OT offers and when collaboration or referral may benefit their clients.

What You'll Learn:

• Describe the role of occupational therapy within mental health care and interdisciplinary treatment teams.

• Identify how routines, executive functioning, sensory needs, and environment can impact mental health and daily functioning.

• Explain how OT helps bridge the gap between insight gained in psychotherapy and its application to everyday life.

• Recognize when a client may benefit from OT referral or collaboration alongside psychotherapy.
