About this event

November 14 | A landmark work of ethnographic and cultural preservation, VOICES OF THE GODS foregrounds the Akan and Yoruba religious traditions as they are actively practiced and sustained within the United States. Director Al Santana explores their rich cosmologies, examining how sacred drumming, ecstatic dance, and herbal medicine function within contemporary ceremonies and rituals. Moving beyond academic observation, the film reveals the enduring influence of West African spiritual traditions on Black culture, artistic expression, and everyday life in America.
