About:

Enrique Vargas is a Chicago-based bassist, composer, and educator. He studied at Berklee College of Music under Linda May Han Oh, Bruno Råberg, and Billy Kilsen. While at Berklee, he was awarded 2 performance-based awards, and later earned an Independent Artist Grant through DCASE.

Short Circuit is the debut album by Enrique Vargas. The album is a new perspective on traditional jazz and r&b, with creative melodies and fascinating improvisation. In January 2026, Enrique did a local tour, called the Short Circuit Concert Series, where his trio performed and recorded the album’s music. These free community shows were hosted at The Puerto Rican Museum (NMPRAC), Merit School of Music, Platform Authority, and Gamer’s Hall.

The first single from the album, Soul Fascination, is available for streaming.

On November 15th 2026, Enrique will release the album and have an album release party at the Epiphany Center for the Arts. This event will feature his live band, an opening performance by Alej, brand new merch, and other activities.Golden Hour at Epiphany:
