About this event

St. Louis-based indie singer/songwriter Marty Brablec makes twangy alt country music under the moniker Marty Blick, lacing keening pedal steel balladry and winding guitar lines with witty lyrical asides. It is an approach that recalls touchstones like Silver Jews or Smog, as well as contemporaries like Greg Freeman and MJ Lenderman. However, Blick’s take on indie Americana feels particularly plaintive and personal.

Although Blick has been a sideman in other outfits over the years, he didn’t begin writing solo material until just last year. After a close call with a freak tornado on his commute home, Blick took the brush with death as the impetus to begin writing his own music, sharing his debut EP, Trash/Jeans/Twister/Dream, a few months later, followed by his latest single, “True Violence.”

After a quiet few months, Blick is back today with news of his forthcoming debut album, Neighborhood Cat. Alongside the announcement, he is also sharing a new single, “Punch The Clock (And Work The Line),” premiering with Under the Radar.
