Prayer | Discussion | Dinner
The responsibility for teaching, sanctifying, and governing within the Church is most fully given to the bishops. However, the Fathers of Vatican II clearly taught that all Catholics share in these offices as members of the Body of Christ. In what manner, then, is a lay Catholic called to teach, to sanctify, and to govern? In the early Church, monasticism grew up as a lay movement, separate from the hierarchy. Each event in this series will focus on how traditional monastic insights on conversion, prayer, and study can inform the life of the Catholic lay person in today’s world. We will explore these topics in the context of and shared reflection led by Father Peter Funk, OSB, at the Monastery of the Holy Cross.
