A Surprising Success: Chicago World's Fair of 1933-34 (Hybrid)

About this event

Why risk an American world’s fair at the absolute depth of the Great Depression, the worst economic time in U.S. history to date? Against onerous odds, the City of Chicago succeeded at that very thing, both culturally and fiscally. Continuing the proud tradition of its slogan, I Will, the City of Big Shoulders mounted an international exposition like no other before or since, one that proved to be the right event at the right time, in the right place. Joseph Madda explores the wondrous world of ninety years ago in Chicago, at the 1933-34 Century of Progress, the fair that worked!
