Bernie’s Book Bank “Booksgiving”

We partner with Bernie’s Book Bank for their fundraiser Booksgiving events to celebrate the joy of books and reading. For us, this is a public relations event.

This year’s event is an Elephant and Piggie theme inspired by Mo Willems children’s books, along with fun activities and entertainment for families (sorting and sticker-ing books, live illustrations, the Chicago Bubble show, food & hot chocolate, dance breaks, photo ops with Elephant & Piggie).

There will be 2 sessions 10-12 and 1-3. K9RB teams will engage readers for only the last hour of each session .

As always, bring your activity bag that includes your mat . Do not distribute bookmarks at this event. You may, however, give a sticker to your readers. Have our K9RBNS and ATD brochures out to give interested parents, etc. If you need more, let me know before 10/25.

LOCATION : The team(s) will be situated in the Think Tank room, which has new carpeting, and will be set up as a dedicated reading space. Families/children will line up outside the room.The entrance to the room will be closed. There are sound curtains that will help separate the room from other activities, as needed.

DETAILS: The flow of readers will be managed. 3-5 minutes per reader . . . depending on how many children are there. One reader at a time is ideal, but sometimes a sibling may want to join. Parents, ideally, do not sit with their reader(s), but, of course can be in the room.
