About this event
TONI ERDMANN appeared on the heels of Syrizas 2015 victory in Greece and increasing recognition that the European Union had its own hierarchies of power and exploitation. The German Ines (Sandra Hller) is a corporate consultant living in Bucharest, helping to oversee an oil conglomerate outsourcing project that threatens local workers. Director Maren Ades curveball is Ines estranged father, Winfried (Peter Simonischek), who tries to reconnect with his daughter via increasingly bizarre antics. Dry German humor at its absurd sublime.
