About this event
Director Tokuzō Tanaka excelled at the ghost story and samurai genres, helming many ZATOICHI installments and also spooky tales like THE SNOW WOMAN. Here Tanaka tackles the bakeneko subgenre: the evil spirit of supernatural cats! This period thriller concerns an infamous spirit known as the “monster cat of Nabeshima”. This symbol of vengeance in human disguise takes revenge for the death of its master, as well as for the corruption in the feudal system. THE HAUNTED CASTLE is gripping from beginning to end, with an awesome transformation sequence. (AGFA)
