Charlene Kluegel - Beyond Fifths

About this event

Join Grammy-nominated violinist Charlene Kluegel for the contemporary world-premiere performance of ***Beyond Fifths***, a radical solo violin program exploring unchartered acoustic worlds through deliberate mistuning. Drawing exclusively on music composed within the last four decades, this immersive recital abandons traditional fingerboard geometry in favor of raw, vibrating overtones, microtonal friction, and hidden sonic resonances.

The evening charts a daring course through eight distinct acoustic landscapes, featuring pioneering European complexitism alongside vibrant new commissioning voices and virtuosic masterworks:

- **Edu Haubensak** — *Vier Saiten* (1987)

- **Manfred Stahnke** — *Capra* I (1987)

- **Peter Eötvös** — *para Paloma* (2015)

- **Katherine Balch** — *Iaspis* (2013)

- **Hannah Selin** — *Meditation on 2/5* (2021)

- **Sepehr Pirasteh** — *Simple* (2021)

- **Ramin Akhavijou** — *probable* (2020)

- **John Corigliano** — *STOMP* (2011)

Culminating in the high-octane, vernacular-infused release of Corigliano’s *STOMP*, *Beyond Fifths* challenges the limits of the instrument and redefines what a solo recital can be. Experience an uncompromising sonic journey curated and executed by an artist operating at the absolute cutting edge of contemporary performance.
