About this event

Insight Meditation is based on the early Buddhist teachings found in the Pali Canon and forms the basis for contemporary secular mindfulness practices. The group meets for 90 minutes, which includes instructions and chanting, sitting and walking meditation, and talks and discussions that illuminate the key teachings on meditation and insight. The meditations focus on developing tranquility (Samadhi), insight (Vipassana), and Lovingkindness (Metta). No prior experience necessary.

The weekly meditation is usually led by Jon Aaron, who has been teaching in the Insight tradition for over 20 years at New York Insight and other communities. He is also a certified teacher and teacher trainer in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
