On-Camera Acting - TV/Film (Teens will be given relevant material from TV/Film to use for their Showcase)

Students will work through applying acting technique (Stanislavsky) to on-camera acting. We will work through scenes from TV/Film that teens could expect to audition for in Chicago. Students will first learn helpful tips to break down a scene and explore exciting choices in playing a character, then hop on camera to incorporate on-camera techniques including: knowing your angles, using the frame to your advantage, and telling a story without dialogue.

• How to apply acting technique to on-camera work, flexing to fit a smaller medium, and using the entire frame to your advantage to tell the most interesting visual story

• Following your authentic curiosity in the scene- everyone’s take on a character is unique. How to you bring yourself to the character by following your own curiosity

• What it’s like working with a scene partner, director, and an ensemble on-set

• What to expect in professional on-camera auditions and callbacks

• Q&A about the industry in Chicago, how to submit to agencies, choosing a path for your own unique acting career

All footage from class will be shared with parents and kids in a Google Drive folder so the kids can watch their work back and see their amazing progress!

SHOWCASE

Share the discoveries you’ve made in class with some of Chicago’s top casting directors and agents ! Students are invited to bring back the scene they’ve learned for class and perform for casting directors and agents in the same space they’ve rehearsed in that morning.
