About this event
Renée Green / Elvira Notari · 36m / 61m · DCP
Green follows the trail of Italian filmmaker Elvira Notari, whose extraordinarily prolific oeuvre leaves only three complete films. Some Chance Operations explores memory as something that survives through unpredictable processes despite the fragile materiality of celluloid. ’A santanotte, one of Notari's surviving works, is a “popular drama of passion” following the tragic fate of a young waitress. The film is a fleeting memory of a bygone Naples, combining melodrama with almost ethnographic shots of the city.
