OPEN MIC

at Gallery Cabaret

Got Talent—or Think You Do?

Every great music story starts somewhere. Yours could start here.

Welcome to Gallery Cabaret, home of the North Side’s longest-running open mic, where emerging talent takes the stage, seasoned musicians guide you into the spotlight, and anything can happen. Sing a song, try out new material, show off your skills, or grab a drink and discover your next favorite artist. Our hosts are professional musicians, the atmosphere is unmistakably Gallery, and the stage is open to anyone ready to take a shot.

Need a little inspiration? The Smashing Pumpkins, Urge Overkill, and Liz Phair all played open mic at Gallery Cabaret before becoming household names. And the Rolling Stones? They played through some of the very speakers still on our stage today.

From sharp stand-up and unfiltered storytelling to spoken word that makes you think, Gallery Cabaret is a stage for voices that deserve to be heard. We’re creating space for comedians, poets, storytellers, and fearless performers to experiment, connect, and bring something unexpected to the room. Whether you’re chasing your next big laugh or looking for a fresh perspective, come experience the talent, energy, and creative edge that keep Chicago’s independent scene alive.

That’s not nostalgia. That’s real history—and it’s still being made.

No cover. No pressure. Just great music, killer drinks, and a stage waiting for you.

Come for the music. Stay for the stories. Who knows? The next one might be yours.
